Every weekend in December is a reason to celebrate. Like a ticking time bomb until New Year's Eve, our Fridays and Saturdays become increasingly packed with holiday parties, special events and general year end jackassery. This weekend was no exception and we found ourselves at a masquerade ball, an erotic photo exhibition and the grand opening of the Grammy Museum downtown for L.A. Weekly's 30th anniversary party. Check out what you missed and what we're (still) recovering from below:

Marie Antoinette Meets Japanese Cosplay at Rococo Rendezvous

Culver City's Royal/T cosplay café and Zippercut kicked off the weekend early on Thursday with Rococo Rendezvous, a Gothic Lolita masquerade ball where 18th century France met Japanese teenage fashion. Artist Alexandra Gibson celebrated the release of her first book From the Outside In with a photographic exhibition and live erotic photo shoot at La Luz De Jesus on Saturday. Described as a “cross-fertilization of social realism and erotica,” Gibson's photographs are mysterious and provocative. Check out Aimee Candelaria's slideshow of the event by clicking on the image above.
