There was definitely something in the air this weekend in Los Angeles, and it wasn't just ash and smoke. There was a restlessness only further provoked by the heat, raging fire and a week of high profile deaths that began with the loss of Ted Kennedy and Dominick Dunne and ended with that of Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein on Friday. Over the weekend Angelenos either escaped by getting their drink on while lounging pool side or escaped by getting their drink and fighting on the dance floor. Juno Director Jason Reitman DJs as Bad Meaning Bad at Key Club

It's easy to become a cynical dance floor junkie in Los Angeles, especially after the celebrity DJ invasion a few years back, where an army of musicians, actors, etc. took over booths to either have the club resident ghost DJ for them or commit horrifying acts of sonic assault on the crowd. Once in a while, though, a person better known for something else will step up to the decks and show the crowd just how DJing is done. ake Jason Reitman for example. Best known as the director of Thank You for Smoking and Juno, Reitman is also one half of the DJ duo Bad Meaning Bad. Along with composer-by-day Mateo Messina, he played a short but memorable set at the Key Club last Friday. But, this was exactly what happened when Mark Burgess, formerly of The Chameleons, played Part Time Punks at The Echo Sunday night.
