Culture PickOutfest Fusion reflects diversity on film in a way that actually creates change. The multi-faceted celebration of QTBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous and People of Color)  film, which kicked off late last week and runs through April 17th,  is not only about celebrating the beauty of humanity’s differences– culturally, sexually, personally– it’s about how art’s reflection of these differences can help us all find common ground. The rich heritage of Los Angeles’ entertainment community is also part of the focus and it’s what makes the event’s screenings, workshops and panels so unique. Still to come this week and next during the in-person event: a series of short films packages exploring relationships and identity (April 12); Keep the Cameras Rolling: The Pedro Zamora Way, the highly anticipated documentary about Pedro Zamora, from MTV’s The Real World: San Francisco, who was the first openly gay, HIV-positive to man on reality TV (April 13); and panels about finding one’s unique voice (April 15-16). There’s also a virtual festival component featuring an impressive on-demand catalog and live streamed entertainment. Tickets and more info on Outfest Fusion https://www.outfestfusion.com/.
