34-Year-Old Man Arrested Fatal Pedestrian Collision near Tournament Way

TUCSON, AZ (March 29, 2023) – Friday night, Oscar Torres was arrested after a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian crash on East Benson Highway.

Police responded to the scene around 9:45 p.m., near Tournament Way on March 24th. According to reports, a pedestrian attempted to cross the southbound lanes of the highway when a 2004 Dodge Ram, driven by Torres struck him.

Upon impact, Torres continued driving without rendering aid to the severely injured victim. Medical personnel pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

Following preliminary duties, police were able to locate 34-year-old Torres in a nearby neighborhood. He was charged with hit-and-run causing death.

In addition, officers say Oscar Torres was driving with a suspended license. Meanwhile, he showed no signs of impairment and police say that jaywalking is the main contributing factor.
