Update, June 11: Kevin Dwayne Green and Hopeton Bereford Parsley have been arrested in connection to the murder.
A 23-year-old was fatally gunned down only a few blocks from trendy Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice last night, according to Twitter reports.
The website Yo! Venice! ID'd the victim as Oscar “ChoirBoy” Duncan, who was described as a youth minister who had attended Venice High School and volunteered at the Boys & Girls Club on Lincoln Boulevard.
The shooting at Santa Clara and California avenues happened …
… sometime before 10:30 p.m., according to the reports, including an online post by Venice311.
That website said the victim was shot in the head or chest in what appeared to be a gang-related attack. Venice311 said the victim's mother was quickly at the scene.
Later, the site tweeted that police indicated the victim had died:
LAPD Scanner: The 23 yr old victim of tonights shooting on Santa Clara has died from his injuries. Worked at Boys/Girls Club on Lincoln.

The attack was near the Oakwood Recreation Center, a park known for its past gang activity.
Yo! Venice! indicated that Duncan worked to stop the violence. He was part of an Inglewood group called Takeover Youth Ministry.
