If you’ve ever been to soprano Julia Migenes’ “Diva on the Verge,” her deliciously irreverent one-woman show exploring the humorous life of an opera singer, you know how much fun she — and opera — can be. Dedicated to “making life easier for ‘operanoiacs,’” Migenes is like a perfect opera torte — not too light, not too heavy. This weekend she performs a program of songs and arias ranging all the way from Bizet’s Carmen to numbers by Jacques Brel, George Gershwin and Miles Davis, accompanied by the versatile pianist Edouard Ferlet.

Fri., Sept. 19, 8 p.m.; Sat., Sept. 20, 7:30 p.m., 2008
