The first location of Del Frisco's Grille in California (this makes seven nation-wide), opens in mid-July. The “new American” bistro, at the corner of Ocean Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, overlooks the Santa Monica Pier. “We knocked down all the walls so the space is wide open and bright with sweeping ocean views. We literally gutted it to give guests beautiful views of the ocean and pier,” says executive chef Daniel Tiger, who was previously with Sullivan's in Seattle and Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse in Boston before that.

It's summer, so, naturally we're daydreaming about beachy cocktails and booze in general. “Folks can stop by for a local beer on tap, try one of our hand-crafted cocktails, order something to share or grab one of our prime steaks and glass of wine from our extensive wine list,” Tiger says.

Some of the chef's favorite menu items include ahi tacos, cheesesteak eggrolls and the massive cheeseburger. There are vegan options, too — this is Santa Monica after all. There's kale and Brussels sprout salad, blistered shishito peppers, grilled artichoke and more items that incorporate local farmers market vegetables.

There might be also a job opportunity in it for you: Del Frisco's is hiring. Email dfgrille.santamonica@dfrg.com for more info.
