Semi Truck Collision on Interstate 8 near Tavern Road Claimed the Life of One Truck Driver

ALPINE, CA (February 16, 2023) – Monday night, a truck collision on Interstate 8 claimed the life of a truck driver. The deadly crash happened around 6:31 p.m. along eastbound Interstate 8, west of Tavern Road in Alpine. According to the California Highway Patrol, a Kenworth semi-truck crashed into the rear of a Peterbilt semi for unknown reasons. Unfortunately, the Kenworth driver died at the scene after their truck caught on fire. However, the identity of the deceased driver remains unavailable pending notification from the next of kin. Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Peterbilt trailer driver from Florida remained uninjured. In the end, authorities closed the eastbound I-8 near Tavern Road for at least six hours to clear out the scene. The truck collision is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol. Furthermore, Alpine Authorities will release additional information once made available.
