Crash Stemming from Kitching Street Hit-and-Run Resulted in One Fatality

MORENO VALLEY, CA (February 20, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, one person was killed in a hit-and-run on Alessandro Boulevard. The deadly crash happened just before 2:00 p.m. at the intersection near Kitching Street. Initially, a 2010 Jeep Patriot rear-ended a 2012 Mercedes E350 in the area of Bay Avenue and Perris Boulevard. Afterward, the driver fled the scene, causing the Mercedes driver to follow the suspect. However, the Jeep collided with a northbound 2019 Kia Forte after running past a red light at the intersection of Alessandro and Kitching. Police said the Kia entered the intersection at a green light. Unfortunately, the Kia driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the Riverside University Medical Center a short time later. Meanwhile, paramedics also transported the Jeep driver to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Police question the Mercedes driver before being released. At this time, no arrests were made by the authorities. Moreno Valley Officials continue to investigate the Alessandro Boulevard hit-and-run.
