One Fatally Struck in Two-Vehicle Collision near Pinto Street

BAKERSFIELD, CA (April 7, 2023) – Wednesday afternoon, one victim was pronounced dead after a 2-car accident on Highway 178.

Police responded to the scene shortly before 3:30 p.m., near Pinto Street just west of Ridgecrest after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.

At this time, the events leading up to the crash remain unclear. However, reports indicate that two vehicles were involved and one car flipped over and blocked the lanes.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced one occupant inside a sedan dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.
