Last Friday, downtown's “social concept club” and bar The Lash hosted the second-anniversary party of Club Fist, the underground venue's monthly Queer Dance Party. It was a riotously fun, all-inclusive evening, featuring fabulous people of all orientations and tastes. “Club Fist originated in Oakland two years ago,” organizer/DJ Cleo — aka Daddy Rose — told us. Up north it was a dance party with its own live dance-floor troupe (The Fistettes go-go dancers, strippers recruited from San Francisco feminist peepshow institution the Lusty Lady), local drag queens and underground musical acts. “This is a club that allow artists and outsiders to be free to express themselves however they feel is necessary,” emphasizes DJ Daddy Rose. The Los Angeles version of The Fistettes are recruited from our local, female-friendly nudie institution Jumbo's Clown Room. The party featured a BDSM “Spanking Booth” mistressed by Justine Cross, and performances by musician Metal Mother, Madam Quinn Helix and OG club kids Ernie Omega and DJ Walkee Talkee. The front room featured a DJ set by Pogo Pope for BOY. All photos by Gustavo Turner.
