Traffic Accident on Highway 101 Left One Fatality, Driver Arrested

CARPINTERIA, CA (March 22, 2022) – A vehicle crash on Padaro Lane claimed the life of one person Friday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, authorities received a report around 2:18 a.m. about a crash at the Padaro Lane exit on the Southbound 101.

Furthermore, the investigators said that a driver of a Nissan sedan drove into the back of an asphalt dump truck and veered off the road and into nearby trees.

Eventually, the driver suffered major injuries while the passenger was pronounced at the scene.

Meanwhile, the dump truck driver remained uninjured.

Both directions of the roadway were temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

Meanwhile, authorities arrested the 21-year-old Nissan driver from Oxnard for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Carpinteria Officials continue to investigate the fatal vehicle collision along the Southbound 101.
