Big-Rig Collision near Highway 44 Resulted in Fatality

SHASTA COUNTY, CA (October 13, 2022) – Thursday morning, one person died in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 89.

The fatal incident happened around 11:00 a.m., four miles north of Old Station, north of Highway 44.

According to the investigators, a logging truck collided with another vehicle for reasons under investigation.

As a result, the big rig became engulfed in flames, killing one person inside. Although, their identity has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Currently, the total number of parties involved and the circumstances surrounding the crash remains unclear. The surrounding area of the road was closed for a brief time to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

No further details regarding the Highway 89 head-on crash have been released to the public; however, Shasta County officials will provide more information once available. An active investigation into the two-vehicle collision on Highway 89 is currently underway.
