Male Victim Dies in Train Accident near East 1st Street
POMONA, CA (September 14, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, one man died following a train collision on Palomares Street.
Police responded to the scene around 2:00 a.m., just north of East 1st Street on September 11th.
According to reports, the driver of a sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed and struck a moving Union Pacific Railroad train. First responders had to extricate the driver from the severely damaged vehicle.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.
Meanwhile, crews blocked Palomares Street between First Street and Commercial Street for several hours during the investigation.
Also, Union Pacific officials were cooperating with the officers to identify the cause of the crash. Witnesses are encouraged to contact investigators at 909-802-7741 or 909-620-2048.
