Traffic Accident near Benet Road Left One Woman Dead
OCEANSIDE, CA (May 18, 2022) – A pedestrian crash on State Route 76 claimed the life of one person Saturday morning.
According to the police, officers responded to the incident around 4:30 a.m. on State Route 76 near Benet Road.
Upon arrival, they located the pedestrian lying in the westbound lanes of State Route 76. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, crews later pronounced the pedestrian dead.
Witnesses and physical evidence indicate that the woman attempted to cross State Route 76 against a red light. There, a westbound vehicle struck the woman in the middle of the intersection.
Meanwhile, the involved driver remained at the scene and waited for the authorities to arrive. Both directions of the roadway were shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties, but reopened around 8:00 a.m.
