Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision near State Route 67
EL CAJON, CA (April 25, 2022) – Tuesday evening, one unidentified victim was pronounced dead after a pedestrian crash on Interstate 8.
Police responded to the scene around 10:30 a.m., on the westbound lanes of the highway, just west of State Route 67.
For reasons unknown, three vehicles struck the male pedestrian as he was standing in the roadway. The man was hit by a 36-year-old woman driving a Kia Optima, a 28-year-old man driving a Dodge Charger, and a third vehicle that fled the scene.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics pronounced the male pedestrian dead at the scene. Following preliminary duties, investigators claimed that drugs and/or alcohol contributed to the incident.
At this time, El Cajon officials are still currently working to identify the circumstances surrounding the pedestrian collision. An active investigation is currently underway.
