Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision near Grant Street

CONCORD, CA (September 26, 2022) – Early Friday morning, one man was pronounced dead after a pedestrian crash on Highway 242.

Officers were dispatched to the scene around 4:00 a.m., in the northbound lanes of the freeway near Grant Street on September 23rd.

Authorities say a man was walking along the road when a driver of the Honda Civic struck him for reasons unknown. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics transported the victim to a hospital where he later died.

In addition, the driver did not suffer any injuries.

At this time, authorities have not released the identities of those involved. Additionally, the surrounding area on the highway was blocked for about 20 minutes before it was later reopened by 5:00 a.m.
