One Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision near MacArthur Maze

OAKLAND, CA (August 23, 2022) – Early Friday morning, one person was pronounced dead after a pedestrian accident on Interstate 80.

Officers responded to the scene shortly after 5:00 a.m., just west of MacArthur Maze.

The events leading up to the collision remain unclear. However, reports indicate that the accident resulted in the death of one person. Their identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, the fatal crash resulted in heavy traffic for commuters attempting to take the Bay Bridge.

At this time, Oakland Officials are advising motorists to find alternate routes into San Francisco. A large portion of the roadway was temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
