Traffic Accident near Railroad Bridge Involving Truck Left One Fatality, One Injured
ORO GRANDE, CA (July 25, 2023) – Tuesday morning, one person was killed and another was hospitalized after a semi-truck accident on Old Route 66.
The fatal incident happened around 7:18 a.m. along Old Route 66 near the Cal Portland Cement Plant.
According to CHP, a westbound semi-truck collided with the railroad bridge, causing a car accident and debris to be sent all over the roadway.
Investigators said the big rig had working equipment not secured, they believe this was a factor in the accident.
First responders arrived and pronounced one man dead at the scene due to the extent of his injuries. Moreover, the driver of the vehicle that was struck by the truck was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, both directions of the roadway were shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
