Three-Car Crash near Pine Street Left One Fatality

MARTINEZ, CA (February 3, 2023) – Early Wednesday morning, one person was pronounced dead after a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 4. Officers responded to the scene just after 4:15 a.m., along the westbound lanes of State Route 4, just east of Pine Street. Upon arrival, police learned that a Ford hatchback driver going west on Highway 4 crashed into a center divider, disabling the vehicle in the westbound lanes. Subsequently, a Lexus SUV and a Toyota SUV also collided with the Ford. First responders arrived and declared the Ford driver dead at the scene. The deceased person’s identity remains undisclosed at this time. The two other drivers of the Lexus and Honda escaped the incident unharmed. Investigation of the three-car collision continued late Wednesday morning. At this time, the California Highway Patrol is encouraging anyone with information about the crash to contact Contra Costa CHP at 925-646-4980.
