Traffic Accident near Grass Valley Resulted in Fatality
NEVADA COUNTY, CA (June 15, 2022) – A motorcycle crash on Highway 49 left one person dead, Thursday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the incident around 10:55 p.m. along with Cal Fire and Nevada County Consolidated Fire.
Investigators said the man on the motorcycle was headed southbound at a high rate of speed. As a result, they lost control of their bike and slid into the northbound lanes, colliding with an SUV.
Furthermore, upon arrival, emergency personnel pronounced the one rider dead at the scene.
In the end, the roadway remained closed for at least an hour as emergency crews cleared the surrounding area.
At this time, Nevada County Officials continue to investigate the motorcycle crash along Highway 49.
The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
