1 Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle vs. Semi-Truck Collision near Copper Avenue

ALBUQUERQUE, NM (July 17, 2023) – Early Monday morning, one victim was killed in a motorcycle accident on Louisiana Boulevard. Authorities responded to the scene shortly before 6:00 a.m., near Copper Avenue on July 10th. Per reports, the driver of a semi-truck was stopped at a red light on the westbound lanes of Copper Avenue. The driver then made a right turn onto Louisiana, crossing all northbound lanes when the rider turned in front of the big-rig. As a result, the motorcycle and the semi-truck collided leaving the rider with life-threatening injuries. Despite life-saving efforts, medics pronounced the rider dead at the scene. Following the crash, the NMSP and Department of Transportation inspected the semi-truck. Following preliminary duties, officers suspected that speed and alcohol were contributing factors.
