Fatal Hit-and-Run Accident near Crimson Road Left One Person Dead

MESA, AZ (February 27, 2023) – Tuesday night, police responded to a hit-and-run crash on Main Street that killled Norma Jean Norko.

It happened on February 14th at around 9:30 p.m., just west of Crimson Road.

According to responding officers, a vehicle struck Norko while she was walking along the street. The impact of the collision left the pedestrian seriously injured. After the collision, the driver of the involved vehicle fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim.

First responders to the scene pronounced 32-year-old Norma Jean Norko dead at the scene.

Both directions of the roadway were briefly shut down to allow for cleanup but have since been reopened.

Furthermore, the officers released a possible description of the vehicle as a 2006-2008 white or light-colored 4-door Chevrolet Malibu with front-end damages.

At this time, no information about the driver was found and any witnesses are urged to call the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office at 602-876-TIPS (8477) or 602-876-1011. Reference report no. IR23-003998.
