Victim Dies in Fiery Auto Accident near Newport Boulevard

COSTA MESA, CA (September 28, 2022) – Early Friday morning, one victim was killed in a fiery car crash on 17th Street.

The fatal incident occurred just after 5:00 a.m., at the intersection of 17th Street and Newport Boulevard.

At this time, the events leading up to the collision remain unclear. However, reports indicate that crews located a vehicle fully engulfed in flames with one occupant inside.

The Costa Mesa Fire Department firefighters eventually extinguished the flames and mitigated the runoff fuel.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, the solo occupant of the vehicle died at the scene. However, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.

At this time, Costa Mesa Officials are still working to determine further circumstances surrounding the fiery 17th Street crash.
