Fatal Car Accident near New Cayuma Left One Person Dead

LOS ANGELES, CA (December 20, 2021) – On Monday, an unidentified driver died following a car accident on Highway 166.

LAPD arrived at the scene around 1:30 p.m. along Highway 166 near Wasioja Road and New Cuyama.

Responding officers located one blue Honda CRV overturned in a field just north of the highway. But despite life-saving efforts, officers declared the Honda driver dead at the scene.

Although the events leading up to the crash remain unknown, witnesses stated they saw a line of around four eastbound cars and one westbound vehicle on the freeway prior the crash.

One of the cars possibly the blue Honda, CHP added.

Officers described another car as a four-door sedan from the 2000s, either dark gray or black, with orange and black racing-style stripes on the trunk and sides.

At this time, authorities have no other information of the crash. CHP continue to ask any witnesses to contact them at (805) 349-8728.
