Suspected DUI Crash near Highway 41 Left One Hospitalized

FRESNO, CA (December 23, 2021) – One person sustained injuries after a suspected DUI crash Elkhorn Avenue late Saturday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol says it happened near Highway 41 and Elkhorn Avenue around 5:30 pm.

Officers say the semi-truck was making a turn onto Highway 41 northbound when a Hyundai ran a red light.

The man driving the Hyundai was pinned under the semi-truck and later was taken to the hospital. Once released, he will be booked into jail for DUI.

Paramedics immediately responded to the scene.

The driver of the semi-truck sustained no injuries and cooperated with officers.

Police are still working to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident on Elkhorn Avenue.
