Wrong-Way Collision on I-5 Claimed the Life of One, Left Two Others Injured

YREKA, CA (September 16, 2021) Authorities are investigating a wrong-way collision on I-5 that killed one and injured two others.

Initially, authorities received reports of a two-vehicle collision along the northbound I-5 at about 12:30 p.m. on Monday.

Furthermore, reports show that an F-250 collided head-on with a four door Maserati in the center lanes of the I-5.

According to the CHP, emergency crews arrived to start preforming life-saving measures on the victims involved.

Unfortunately, the driver of the Maserati was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two inside the F-250 were transported to a hospital, both suffering from serious injuries.

Ultimately, both lanes of the Interstate 5 were closed for an extended period of time for cleanup and preliminary duties. Caltrans and CHP were able to reopen the road shortly after.

Officials continue to investigate the fatal wrong-way collision on I-5.
