On Mother's Day L.A. sheriff's officials announced that a 21-year-old Whittier father was arrested on suspicion of murdering his 6-month-old baby girl.

The suspect, Eduardo Orozco, was arrested over the weekend after the baby “suffered blunt force injuries,” according to a sheriff's statement:

Deputies went to Orozco's home in the 10800 block of Laurel Avenue in unincorporated Whittier Friday after learning that the baby was hospitalized and then died.

The sheriff's department states that “on the evening of May 10, 2013, the baby was left in the care of the father.”

Orozco was arrested at 10 a.m. the next day, according to sheriff's inmate data. He was booked on suspicion of murder and was being held without bail.
