If you go to UCLA, you can sign up for military service and die for your country. You can vote (if you're at least 18). You drink (if you're 21). And you can take THC semi-legally, if you have a doctor's blessing (and keep it to yourself). But you can't smoke on campus.

Starting today the Westwood school's tobacco-toking ways are a thing of the past. The first day of the university's groundbreaking no-smoking rule coincides with …

… Earth Day. Of course.

While 1,000 other college across the nation have gone smoke-free, UCLA is the first UC campus to do so.

If community college is high school with ashtrays, UCLA is clearly in the educational big leagues: No ashtrays at all.

And, in case you were wondering, the policy includes water pipes, smokeless tobacco (chewing tobacco too), and even smokeless, electronic cigarettes.

The school is offering free counseling and even a two-week's supply of nicotine patches for those students who want to quit, according to a UCLA statement:

With a signature and a UCLA ID, campus tobacco users can pick up free nicotine-replacement therapy starter-kits (NRTs) containing a two-week supply of nicotine patches. Students can claim theirs at the Ashe Student Health Center.

For those with less willpower, there's always Westwood Village.
