LOS ANGELES, CA (April 6, 2023) – Early Monday, firefighter sustained serious injuries while responding to car accident on Ventura Boulevard.

LAFD units responded to a fire around 4:49 a.m. outside the Synthetic Grass Depot at 19337 Ventura Boulevard.

As the firefighters worked, a civilian vehicle ran over a four-inch fire hose, knocking over a firefighter to the ground.

Paramedics transported the injured firefighter to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

It was unclear whether the involved driver stayed at the scene or rendered aid.

However, fire officials claimed that “Due to the location of the nearest fire hydrant to an incident, it is sometimes necessary (we avoid it whenever possible) to cross streets with the large diameter supply line”.

Following the incident, officials closed the eastbound 101 Freeway at Tampa Avenue, including a section of Ventura Boulevard, as crews clear out the scene of the fire.
