OPD Officer Hospitalized after Traffic Accident near 52nd Avenue

OAKLAND, CA (October 6, 2022) – Sunday morning, an Oakland Police Department officer was injured in a hit-and-run on Wentworth Avenue.

The incident happened around 10:00 a.m., at the 5200 block of Wentworth Avenue near 52nd Avenue.

According to reports, officers responded to reports of an unresponsive driver in the middle of the roadway of Wentworth Avenue. Upon arrival, authorities attempted to detain the driver. However, the subject woke up and sped off, hitting an officer in the process.

The officer was transported to a nearby hospital and is now in stable condition. At this time, the injured party’s identity and the suspect remain undisclosed.
