Hit-and-Run Crash near Oak Street Left Police Officer Injured

PHOENIX, AZ (April 6, 2023) – Early Wednesday morning, Marlon De Jesus was arrested after a hit-and-run crash near 40th Street. The incident happened on March 15th just after 12:30 a.m. near the intersection of 40th Street and Oak Street. According to reports, a vehicle, driven by Hernandez ran a red light on 40th Street and struck a police cruiser. The officer in the police cruiser became trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. Medics transported the officer to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, Hernandez left his vehicle and ran from the scene but was later located and caught. He was hospitalized with minor wounds. Following the crash, the officers stated that it was not yet determined if speed or impairment are the factors of the crash. Also, 40th Street was blocked while officers conduct further investigation. A driver must stop and take certain actions when involved in a motor vehicle accident that results in property damage or injury to another party.
