2 Teens Arrested after High-Speed Chase at Burbank Town Center Mall
BURBANK, CA (July 24, 2023) – Wednesday evening, police arrested two teenagers after a police pursuit ended in a crash on 5 Freeway. Initially, officers responded to reports of a reckless driver around 9:20 p.m. at the garage of Burbank Town Center Mall at 550 North First Street. Upon arrival, the authorities located the vehicle and attempted to stop the driver. However, the two teens inside the vehicle sped off towards the exit where it collided with a patrol vehicle. The crash left an officer hospitalized for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. According to the police, the suspects led the other officers to a high-speed chase while breaking several traffic laws. Ultimately, the suspect lost control of the vehicle on 5 Freeway near Empire Avenue. Authorities arrested the 16-year-old girl and the 17-year-old boy at the scene. Both teens were identified to be residents of Bakersfield, where the car was determined to be stolen. Burbank Officials will provide more information once available.
