Man Detained after DUI Collision on Seaword Avenue in Ventura

VENTURA, CA (October 7, 2021) – Monday evening, an officer was injured in a DUI crash on Highway 101, in Ventura.

The collision took place around 5:50 p.m., on Highway 101 south of Seaward Avenue, as per report. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a man was driving a 2021 Jeep Wrangler heading south on the right shoulder of the highway. Suddenly, he swerved left and rear-ended a police vehicle.

When the officer noticed the Jeep approaching from behind, he activated his overhead emergency lights to alert the driver.

According to the CHP, the officer suffered minor injuries and was brought to a medical facility for treatment by other police.

In addition, police suspected the Irvine man of driving while intoxicated.
