DUI Collision at 90th Street Left One Gig Harbor Officer with Injuries
GIG HARBOR, WA (November 30, 2021) – At least one police officer was injured Sunday morning, after a DUI collision at 90th Street.
The accident took place around 2:00 a.m., along 90th Street near the 9000 block of Bujacich Road.
According to reports, Officer Barber of Gig Harbor was monitoring the area. For reasons unknown, an oncoming vehicle crossed the center line and struck their car.
Emergency crews located Officer Barber with minor injuries despite the almost head-on crash. In addition, the other driver did not sustain any injuries.
Following preliminary investigations, officers determined that impairment played a factor in the collision.
Responding officers eventually arrested the 22-year-old DUI driver. Moreover, authorities said the driver exceeded twice the legal alcohol limit.
At this time, authorities continue to investigate the crash.
