Two Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision on Columbia Way

DOWNEY, CA (March 24, 2023) – Early Monday morning, an officer was hospitalized following a head-on crash on Lakewood Boulevard.

The collision happened around 1:45 a.m., near Columbia Way according to the Downey Police Department. Dispatchers arrived to the scene shortly after receiving multiple calls in the area.

Footage from the incident revealed that both the police SUV and the white sedan sustained heavy front-end damage after colliding head-on. In addition, firefighters also extricated an injured man from the sedan.

Emergency personnel eventually transported the officer and the other 25-year-old driver to a hospital for medical treatment. Downey Officials rerouted traffic away from the scene as crews conduct an investigation.
