“Octomom” Nadya Suleman has accepted PETA's offer to put a sign on her lawn that reads, “Don't let your dog or cat become an 'Octomom:' Always spay or neuter,” according to a spokeswoman for the animal-rights group. We first reported the proposal Tuesday — and it sounded like a bit of a joke to us — but Suleman needs the money that PETA stated it would pitch in for the deal.

The organization made the offer publicly and in a letter to Suleman's lawyer after the mother of 14 was reported to be close to losing her residence. Apparently her father hasn't been up-to-date on installments, including a $450,000 balloon payment that was due earlier this month. The man owed the money wants to foreclose. Suleman leases the place from her dad.

In that light, PETA made the offer in an attempt to help Suleman keep the house. Porn-maker Vivid also made her a pitch to appear in at least one adult film for an amount that would at least cover the cost of her home. She hasn't responded that offer.

“PETA is delighted that Nadya “Octomom” Suleman has accepted our offer to place an ad that promotes spaying and neutering on her front lawn,” said Amanda Schinke of PETA. The ad … will call attention to the animal overpopulation crisis. Every year, 6 to 8 million animals enter animal shelters, and roughly half of them are euthanized because of a lack of good homes … We are currently working out the details, and our ad is in production. We will let you know as soon as it's up.”
