Driver and Passenger Injured in DUI Accident near Denair Manor Apartments

TURLOCK, CA (May 19, 2022) – Authorities arrested 23-year-old Octavio Macias Friday evening, following a DUI collision on Denair Avenue.

The accident happened around 9:15 p.m., in front of Denair Manor Apartments on 550 Wayside Drive.

According to witnesses and reports, a blue Nissan SUV traveling westbound struck the left rear of a gray Nissan sedan. The collision pushed the gray Nissan sedan forward, causing the front of it to collide with the rear of a blue Ford sedan.

After colliding with the gray Nissan, the blue Nissan veered left and stopped in the middle of the road, facing southbound.

The crash caused minor injuries to Macias and his passenger. Paramedics took the passenger to a nearby hospital, while Macias refused any treatment.

Meanwhile, the other two vehicles were parked on the side and had no occupants.

Macias attempted to flee on foot but officers later caught him and put him through sobriety tests. After participating in one, he failed the other two due to intoxication.

Police eventually arrested Macias on suspicion of DUI, DUI with a blood alcohol content of.08 or higher, resisting a police officer, and hit and run causing property damage. Authorities also served him a suspension order for his driver’s license.

At this time, CHP has no other information about the crash however, an active investigation is currently underway.
