The word apothecary stirs memories of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, as the place where Romeo buys his fateful elixir. With its vintage striped awning, shabby-chic decor and delicate pink storefront lettering, Le Pink & Co. Beauty Apothecary is more Juliet’s speed. The nostalgic Silver Lake shop caters to those who cringe at the thought of shopping at Rite–Aid and prefer a romantic, European decadence with their beauty and skin care products. Inside you’ll find white cabinets and shelves lined with fragrant and colorful soaps, oils and lotions bearing names you can’t pronounce, many of them hard-to-find imports from around the world. Alongside rare perfumes of all kinds — from the exotic French L’Artisan Parfumeur to Demeter Fragrances’ “Play-Doh” or “Dirt” scents — are vintage glass jars filled with lip stains, polishes and bath salts, many vegan–friendly and made of organic ingredients. The best part? Le Pink & Co. also doubles as a candy store, offering treats such as an old-fashioned, cherry cola–flavored hard candy stick, a classic Charleston Chew or even Australia’s best-selling chocolate bar, a Violet Crumble. If you still don’t feel pampered enough, at the end of your visit stop by the cashier to make a facial appointment with one of the female aestheticians. You’ll be back. 3820 W. Sunset Blvd..
