Look alive people. The Occupy Wall Street movement that swept New York over the past two weeks finally gained a foothold in L.A. over the weekend.

And now participants of Occupy L.A. are marching on the financial district downtown at traffic hour (5 p.m.) today — and they have events lined up throughout the week, says co-organizer Ian Thompson.

Over the weekend …

… at least 750 people marched from Pershing Square to City Hall. Where they stayed, camped out, and remain.

Today's march is intended to show solidarity with Occupy Wall Street protesters who have been arrested in New York.

Thompson told the Weekly he anticipates an Occupy L.A. presence downtown and at City Hall throughout the week.

“All the people down there are supporting events through Friday,” he said.

What do they want?

Well, the heads of Wall Street tycoons, apparently. Thompson said wealth and class disparity is the main target of demonstrators' ire:

There are 1 percent who are benefitting from the way the system is run and the rest of us are barely surviving with record unemployment.

When do they want it? You know the answer to that question.

[Added]: The blog Crooks and Liars has reportedly helped raise $8,600 to buy and deliver pizza to the demonstrators downtown.

You can donate a pizza or two via Crooks and Liars or by calling Rocket Pizza direct 213-687-4992 and telling them the vegan's for the tired, poor, huddled masses outside City Hall.

But it won't be cheap. Rocket charges $29 for a large pepperoni and a 6-pack. Talk about your class warfare.
