For whom the bell tolls? These people: L.A. City Attorney Carmen Trutanich today announced that 19 occupiers have been charged with alleged failure to disperse following Wednesday morning's raid of the Occupy L.A. encampment at City Hall.

City Attorney's spokesman Frank Mateljan told the Weekly that this was just the “first batch” of defendants and that more people could face charges as prosecutors review the LAPD's recommendations through tomorrow.

About 290 people were arrested on suspicion of failing to disperse yesterday after …

… the department declared an unlawful assembly in and around the City Hall south lawn, where Occupy L.A. had been camped out for about two months.

The defendants were named as:

Jose Tellez, Michael Rodriguez, Amanda Faye Mosqueda, Johnny Okane, Charles William Florenza, Lawrence Gregory Ziese, Reynaldo Crespo, Gilbert Ceballos, Jason Brodsky, Jason Rivera, Carl Casey, Anthony Diaz, Christopher Devcich, Moses Quiroz, Jane One Doe, Kayla Elizabeth Fields, Robert Jefferson Dietrich and John Two Doe (AKA Steve Leederman).

They were each charged with one count of failure to disperse after cops told demonstraters to take a hike from 1st Street and Broadway near City Hall (some folks had taken to the streets after the LAPD moved in).

Bail was set at $2,000 to $5,000.

One defendant got special treatment, according to Mateljan:

Tyson Header [sic; he spells it Heder], during the operation, spit on an Officer and resisted arrest. Defendant Header was charged with three counts: Battery on a Peace Officer, Assault on a Peace Officer, and Resisting Arrest.

Header happens to be the Occupy L.A. photographer tackled by LAPD officers during Wednesday night's raid — and the whole thing was captured on video.
