Obikà Mozzarella Bar, originally a European and Asian brand with 13 stores in Rome, Milan, Tokyo, London and most recently New York, is opening its first California location in Century City's Westfield Shopping Center on September 15. Obikà, on the second floor of the mall between the food court and Borders, will specialize in buffalo mozzarella, burrata, ricotta, salad, pasta, and Italian beer and wines. The patio furniture is set up, the staff is currently being trained inside and onlooking passersby are chatting it up. The company updated its Facebook fans last week: “At Obika' mozzarella has many forms: entwined, blobs, balls and it is paired with an excellent choice of cold cuts, cured hams and pasta salad.” A second L.A. location is opening at the Beverly Center in November. They had us at “blobs.”

Obikà (Westfield Century City Mall): 10250 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles; (310) 556-2452.
