President Obama is having prominent Angeleno Latinos over to his Casablanca today for a little talk on immigration.

Among the invitees are Desperate Housewives' Eva Longoria, fellow actresses Rosario Dawson and America Ferrera, and local radio hero Eddie “El Piolin” Sotelo.

With the exception of El Piolin, who helped inspire a massive immigrants' rights on Wilshire Boulevard five years ago, we don't think these folks know the border from Border Grill in Santa Monica.

This would be like inviting Kobe Bryant over to discuss the plight of the African American underclass.

Well, we'll give Obama credit for finally picking up the ball on immigration. Many Latinos are pissed at him for making immigration reform one of his campaign promises and then forgetting about it.

What changed?

Oh, yeah, as Obama's recent fund-raising visit to L.A. demonstrates, election season is upon us again. A few brown votes would come in handy.

And Latinos, like Tom Cruise, have been know to go both ways when it comes to our major parties. (We kid, Tom Cruise's lawyer. Seriously).

A White House press statement says the prez wants to …

… discuss the importance of fixing the broken immigration system for our nation's 21st century economic and security needs so that America can win the future. The President will also discuss how we can work together to foster a constructive national conversation on this important issue as we work to build a bipartisan consensus in Congress.

Yeah. Eva Longoria can weigh in on the importance of fixing … the broken heel on her new pair of Louboutins which, we can assure you, have never seen the banks of the Rio Grande.

Way to get back on this issue, Mr. President — just in time for 2012. Just don't use us and lose us like you did the first time around.
