Mendocino Farms opened its sixth location and third downtown outpost yesterday with a new sandwich operation at Taste, the food court in FIG at 7th that already houses Juicy Lucy and Oleego.

The sandwich shop, known for its market-driven, creative sandwiches and salads, helps to round out the offerings at the modern food court, which is gunning hard for downtown office workers' lunch business.

To celebrate the opening, the new location will host a “family fun day” this Saturday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. According to press materials, “The afternoon event will feature kid-friendly activities including a performance from Rhythm Child, face painting, a balloon artist, photo booth and arts & crafts.” Kids will eat free if their accompanying adult buys a sandwich or salad.

Mendocino Farms: 735 S. Figueroa St., M1, Los Angeles (FIG at 7th Center).
