Guisados opened on the Spring Street side of the Spring Arcade Building in Downtown on Monday, news that, based on the long lunchtime lines over the past few days, was very much welcomed by most every hungry person within walking distance of the building. Because if you too spend an enormous amount of time in the neighborhood, you too would be enormously excited to now be so close to one of the best taco-makers in the city.

This Downtown location is Guisados's third. The first opened in Boyle Heights at the end of 2010, followed by a spot in Echo Park that opened early last year.

Guisados, of course, is well-known for its tacos, filled with lovely braised meats and vegetables that are ladled on thick, freshly made corn tortillas. All of these wonderful creations, from the steak picado to the blistering chiles toreados, are available here on the ground floor of the Spring Arcade.

There are breakfast tacos here, too, filled with chorizo and potatoes and scrambled eggs and so on, available between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Besides the menu, other noticeable similarities between this location and the others: work from local artists hanging on the walls, an inspirational quote painted above a door frame, the hilariously long list of potential food allergens scrawled on a post. If it feels like home, it's probably because it sort of is. Or will be.

Guisados is open Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. (!) and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
