Not Normal: Art in the Age of Trump

The new book project, Not Normal: Art in the Age of Trump is a powerful and frequently unsettling collective archive organized by curator Karen Gutfreund. The book interprets the presidential lowlights of the last four years across contributions from scores of artists whose eclectic mediums and styles share one thing – a sense of urgency to reverse this destructive course on which our democracy has been set.

This unequivocal protest against the malfeasances of the Trump administration features nearly 150 artists and more than 350 original works, ranging from Tm Gratkowski’s meditation on deadly sins to Squeak Carnwath’s classroom chalkboard, Robb Pratt’s doubletake on the Last Supper, and Brandi Merolla’s Hokusai-inspired blue wave. Some works are more outrageous, scatological, and satirical, while others poke holes in the aura of nostalgia for a simpler, aka more racist society.

And now, art from the book forms the basis of a new music video from The Irrational Library and graphic illustrator TRIK, for “More of the Obvious Less,” the lead track off of the We…are Doomed collaborative project.
