The Internet went up in flames this morning (damn you, Santa Ana winds!) over accusations of rape at the glittering Montage Beverly Hills, a favorite hideout of movie stars and other 1 percenters looking for some L.A. luxury.

The “victim,” in her 40s, initially informed Beverly Hills police that she had been raped in her room around 12:30 a.m. She was sent to the hospital for examination…

… and witnesses excitedly told investigators that they'd seen two men fleeing in a Hummer.

Drama! Finally, we get our own high-profile dark hotel sex story right here on the West Coast, in the Sheen and Strauss-Kahn tradition.

But wait. Not so fast. Beverly Hills police Sergeant Renato Moreno tells the Weekly that the investigation has been dropped completely. He says the hotel guest “initially told responders” she was raped, but they soon discovered she had only been frightened that something along those lines was about to occur.

KNX news radio reports that she had been “entertaining two men at her room this morning.” Also, quite mysteriously, that police were “carrying out boxes of evidence” all through the wee hours.

Boxes of evidence? What the hell kind of S&M shenanigans are going down at the Montage Beverly Hills on a Tuesday night?

Whatever weird, scary menage a trois did get broken up at 12:30 a.m., we can be sure it was an expensive one — rooms start at just under $500 per night. Ooh la la. As for the BPD, looks like this false alarm was just another struggling screenwriter's “bomb” in a briefcase. Back to the murder trail, fellas.
