Last night marked the 14th year that Joachim Splichal's Patina Restaurant Group catered the Governor's ball at the Primetime Emmys, a dinner party so big that it could only be held in the L.A. Convention Center. Splichal and Alec Lestr, executive chef of Patina catering, began developing the menu immediately after last years Emmys, and now, after five days of intensive prep work, the meal has finally been served, the massive tented kitchen with 12 full stoves has been struck, and the 180 chefs have gone home for some well-deserved sleep. That is, except for Hugo Veltman, executive chef of Pinot Bistro. He is in the kitchen of his Studio City restaurant prepping yet another Emmy dinner. Why? Because after 14 years catering the Emmys, today marks the first time that the Patina meal is available to the public.

Until Sunday, September 27, Pinot Bistro will be offering the chance to mange the exact same prix-fixe Emmy menu eaten by television's elite, in a more intimate environment, and without the Harry Winston/Chanel dress code. The market inspired three-course menu plays on the event's theme of “Let There Be Color!,” featuring perfectly seasoned toybox tomatoes, skewered melon balls, and bright red sweet pepper filled with a smooth eggplant mousse to start. The second course moves on to bolder flavors: filet mignon, polenta ravioli, and whole roasted zucchini blossoms stuffed with zucchini puree. And for dessert, a silky chocolate mound infused with raspberry creme, paired with yuzu gelee, a passionfruit macaroon, and a mint chocolate lollipop.
