Nick Offerman, best known as Parks & Recreation's lovable curmudgeon Ron Swanson, has just published a very Swanson-esque book. Paddle Your Own Canoe: One Man's Fundamentals for Delicious Living is an advice tome from the meat-loving, mustachioed man we all wish we were, with topics ranging from “Eat Meat” to “Carry a Handkerchief.” There's even a chapter titled “How to Be a Man.” Offerman will talk about his new book with Jesse Thorn, whose popular NPR program Bullseye has him interviewing comics on the regular — so you can imagine tonight's show will be a lot funnier than your typical author talk. As Ron says: “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Don't teach a man how to fish and you feed yourself. He's a grown man. Fishing isn't that hard.” Largo at the Coronet, 366 N. La Cienega Blvd., W. Hlywd.; Sun., Sept. 13, 8:30 p.m. (seat assignments at 6 p.m., doors at 7 p.m.); $35 (includes a copy of the book); (310) 855-0350, largo-la.com.
