Two Men Pronounced Dead after Head-On Collision near Cox Lane

OROVILLE, CA (March 10, 2022) – A head-on crash on Highway 70 claimed the lives of Nicholas Khraich and Ryan Clark, Friday evening.

According to the California Highway Patrol, police received reports around 11:18 p.m., near Cox Lane.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver of a southbound Chevrolet Sonic swerved into the northbound lane. There, the Chevrolet collided head-on into a Toyota Camry.

Upon arrival, authorities discovered one of the vehicles on fire while the driver trapped inside. Emergency crews used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire before it reached inside the car.

The Butte County Coroner’s Office later identified the two deceased victims as 23-year-old Khraich and 39-year-old Clark.

Meanwhile, a 32-year-old woman in the Camry sustained major injuries and an 18-month-old sustained minor injuries.

At this time, Oroville officials are still currently working to identify the circumstances surrounding the collision.
